What you get
IOTA serves Idaho occupational therapy practitioners in four ways: advocacy, education, connection, and career support. The association is run by practising Idaho OTs and OTAs who volunteer their time. Every dollar of membership dues funds work inside Idaho, on behalf of Idaho practitioners.
IOTA tracks the Idaho Legislature, the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL), the State Occupational Therapy Licensure Board, Idaho Medicaid, the Department of Education, and third-party payers. When a rule change affects your scope, your reimbursement, or your license, IOTA is in the room and you hear about it first.
Idaho requires 10 contact hours of germane continuing education each year for OT and OTA license renewal. IOTA hosts an annual Fall Conference, plus in-person and virtual CE events throughout the year, designed around the practice areas Idaho practitioners actually work in.
Idaho is a rural state and practitioners can end up isolated. IOTA connects OTs, OTAs, and students statewide through district events, the online member forum, the member directory, and mentorship pairings between students, new graduates, and experienced practitioners.
IOTA members post and browse Idaho occupational therapy positions on the member job board, and list themselves in the public member directory so employers, referrers, and prospective clients can find them.
Membership
IOTA membership costs $50 a year for practitioners and $15 a year for students. Dues are annual and support advocacy, continuing education, and student programming inside Idaho. Both levels include access to the member portal, the job board, the member forum, and member pricing on IOTA events.

The differentiator
IOTA is the only organization representing occupational therapy practitioners before Idaho state government. The association works with AOTA, the Idaho Legislature, the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses, the State Occupational Therapy Licensure Board, Idaho Medicaid, and the Idaho Department of Education.
Recent work includes tracking the updated DOPL Rules for the Licensure of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants, which took effect 1 July 2024, the licensure board's subsequent continuing education guidance, and member consultation on whether Idaho should pursue the OT Licensure Compact.

Students and new graduates
Student membership gives OT and OTA students access to IOTA events at reduced rates, mentorship with practising Idaho clinicians, the member forum, and the job board ahead of graduation. Students also serve on IOTA committees and can represent their program at the state level.
